North Greenbush-Lois Flanagan Spinney, age 83 of North Greenbush, N.Y. passed away Wednesday July 09, 2014. She was born on October 5, 1930 in Smithville Flats. N.Y. and lived in North Greenbush, N.Y. for many years. Mrs. Spinney was a graduate of Greene Central High School Class of 1938. She was a Bookkeeper for GLF, Farm Credit and Ford Motor Company. Lois worked most of her career at East Greenbush Central Schools in various capacities where her work was valued by many, including General Secretary in the central office, Secretary to the Board of Education, Executive Assistant to the Director of Pupil Services and Instruction and for 10 years was Secretary to several EGCS Superintendents. She retired in 1994. Lois was a member of the Van Rensselaer Star Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a loving mother who enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
Daughter of the late Gage and Lela Flanagan; mother of Scott Spinney and daughter-in-law Alicja Spinney from Ashburn, VA; sister of Gerald Flanagan and Joan Crumb and her husband Irving Crumb both of Greene NY; grandmother of Shauna and Kurt.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer on Tuesday July 15, 2014 from 4-7PM. Burial will be in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery Greene, NY. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America.
