Obituary for Felix Sanzo

Defreestville- Felix Sanzo, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday October 5, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Felix was born in Hartford, CT on August 27, 1930 to the late Frank and Jenny Sanzo. Growing up in Schodaxk Landing, Felix graduated from Castleton High School in 1948. Felix served in the Naval Reserves for 8 years. Settling in Defreestville, NY, Felix was employed by Bricklayers Local #6 Albany, NY for 44 years and was self employed before retiring in 1996.
He was an avid bowler and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Felix loved his NY Yankees and was a Green Bay Packer fan. Spending time with his family; children and grandchildren was important to him. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a past member of the Rensselaer Elks Lodge as well as past president of East Greenbush Pop Warner.
Felix is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Clara M. (Johnson) Sanzo, whom he married January 12, 1952, his children Susan Sanzo, Philip (Denise) Sanzo and Judy (Rick) Lemire and his cherished grandchildren Natasha (Don) Rugenstein, Megan Sanzo, Phylicia Sanzo, Tyler Lemire and Aaron Lemire and his sister Christina (the late Jack) Gill.
Funeral from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Rensselaer Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Thursday prior to the service from 4-7 p.m. At the request of the family burial services will be private on Monday October 13, 2014.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the North Greenbush Ambulance Assoc. P.O. Box 99 Wynantskill, NY 12198.
