Obituary for Susan M. Beers

Rensselaer- Susan Marlene Beers, 68, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy, NY on Friday, November 14, 2014 after a valiant fight with cancer.
Born December 29, 1945 in Niskayuna, NY, to Robert Beers and Jeanne Searles Beers, she graduated Niskayuna High School and went on to study Fine Arts at SUNY New Paltz and Buffalo State College.
Susan lived in Rensselaer and worked for Patterson Dental Company until retiring in 2012. She was involved in various Citizens’ action groups, including the Rensselaer Improvement Committee to work toward a greener future.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Beers and Jeanne Searles Looker. Survivors include her daughter, Sarah Wolfe and her grandchildren, Maxwell Wolfe and Jacob Wolfe who reside in Troy, New York and her sisters, Barbara Gleaves of Northville, NY and Sally Beers of Albuquerque, New Mexico, her brothers Tim Looker of Albany, NY, Peter Looker of Glenville, NY and Andy Looker of Clifton Park, NY and their families. She is also survived by a loving niece, nephews, cousins, grand niece and grand nephews, extended family and friends. Susan was a loving, generous mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt and will be dearly missed.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, November 19 from 4-7 pm at W. J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home Inc. located at 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer, NY 12144.
The family would like to thank the compassionate and dedicated nurses and staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and Community Hospice who went above and beyond, Dr. Garbo, Dr. Doyle, and Margaret Mary Girzone, for their constant commitment, comfort, and support.Contributions to The Community Hospice may be made in memory of Susan.
