Clifton Park-George D. Gamble, age, 90 years, of Clifton Park passed away Wednesday November 26, 2014. He was born in Williamsport, PA and has been a resident of Clifton Park for many years. George was employed by the New York State Comptroller’s Office as Director of State Accounts. He was a US Army veteran of WW II. George was passionate about ballroom dancing, gardening, traveling, fine dining and discussions about state finances over a good dry martini.
Son of the late Dewey and Dora Getchen Gamble; husband of Mary Lou Gamble; father of Pamela L. Hobbs-Benoit and George P. Gamble; stepfather of Mary Lou, John and Thomas Archer; brother of the late Marie Ruhl. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren a niece Marcy Poorman and his dear friend Patricia.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Saturday December 6, 2014 from 3-5 p.m. Interment will be in Williamsport, PA. In lieu of flowers contributions in George’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
