Obituary for Gloria T. Clas Salisbury

Gloria T. Clas  Salisbury
North Greenbush-Gloria T. Clas Salisbury, age, 90 years, passed away on Sunday December 14, 2014, peacefully after a brief illness. She was born in Albany and lived in North Greenbush for 50 years. Mrs. Salisbury was employed by the New York State Dept. of Health for 27 years retiring in 1990. She was a longtime communicant of the former St. Joseph’s Church in Rensselaer and currently was a communicant of the Church of St. Mary at Clinton Heights in East Greenbush. Gloria and her late husband operated Pop Salisbury’s Vegetable Stand in North Greenbush for over 40 years.
Daughter of the late John William and Anna Dillon Clas; wife of over 56 years to the late William “Pop” Salisbury, Sr.; mother of William (Doriann) Salisbury, Jr. of Averill Park, Robert Salisbury of Wynantskill, Thomas Salisbury of Averill Park and James (Kathleen) Salisbury of West Sand Lake; grandmother of Karen Salisbury of Troy, Jason (Caroline) Salisbury of Morris Plains, NJ, Kathryn Salisbury of Averill Park, Carolyn (Joseph) Mulheren of Rensselaer, Krystal Salisbury of Wynantskill, Desiree (Vincenzo) Orciuoli of Troy, Julie Salisbury of West Sand Lake, Chad Salisbury of West Sand Lake and Olivia Salisbury of Bradenton, FL; great-grandmother of Jude Mulheren, Bianca West, Nico Orciuoli and Noah Mulheren; sister of Thomas (Phyllis) Clas of Scotia and the late Mary Meoli, Vera Paradise, Florence Molter, Irene Kruse, Anna Mae O’Connell, James Clas, Virginia Claxton and George Clas. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Thursday morning at 8:30 and 9:30 at the Church of St. Mary at Clinton Heights Columbia Trpk. East Greenbush, where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-8 pm. Interment will be in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont.
In lieu of flowers contributions in Gloria’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital PO Box 1000 Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38101-9908. The family would like to thank the Van Rensselaer Manor for the care, concern and support shown to Gloria and her family.
