Wayne Florian  Ubrich
North Greenbush – Wayne Florian Ubrich age 76 of North Greenbush passed away at home on January 18, 2015. He was born in Albany, NY to the late Phillip Ubrich and Evelyn Whittam-Ubrich. Wayne grew up in North Greenbush and graduated from Columbia H.S. before enlisting in the US Army in 1956. He served in the Army Security Agency achieving the grade of Private 1stClass and was honorably discharged in 1959. Wayne continued to serve his country, joining the US Dept. of State as a Foreign Service Officer. He enjoyed experiencing different cultures around the world, serving in twelve countries over a 30-year career, retiring in 1988. In retirement, Wayne enjoyed caring for his cherished dogs, collecting military insignias and spending time with his friends at the Bailey Mountain Fish and Game Club, where he was Sergeant-at-Arms. Wayne additionally belonged to the Society of Military Insignia Collectors, the NRA, the NY State Rifle and Pistol Assn., and the walking club - Empire State Capital Volkssporters. Wayne is survived by his cousins Elizabeth Wiltse-Woodard, William Scheibly (Emma), Evelyn Ubrich-Williams (Stewart), Richard Ubrich (Cheryl), and Ann Ubrich-Taylor (Floyd). Funeral with military honors will be from W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave., Rensselaer on Thursday (PLEASE NOTE CHANGE) at 1PM. All are welcome to attend. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home prior to the service from Noon to 1PM. Interment will be in Blooming Grove Cemetery, North Greenbush immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made, in the name of Wayne Ubrich, to the Hudson Mohawk Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12204.
