Obituary for
Joann M. McCabe
Rensselaer-Joann Oxbrough McCabe, age 60, of Patroon Pointe Rensselaer, passed away at home, April 17, 2015, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Joann was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Dedrick) Oxbrough and was a Columbia High School graduate Class of 1972. She was employed by the NYS Division of Probation and Correctional Alternatives and retired after almost 30 years of service. Joann had a love for laughter, family, friends and casinos.
Joann is survived by her devoted fiancé Jack Palella, her children Kelly and Jeff Palmateer and Brian McCabe, her siblings, William (Margo) Oxbrough, Gloria Oxbrough, Gary (Marge) Oxbrough and the late Robert Oxbrough and her grandchildren Evan and Reese Palmateer. Also survived by her loving extended family, the McCabe family, Palella family and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ira Zackon and the staff at NYOH for the care, compassion and concern shown to Joann and her family. Also a thank you to Rensselaer County Community Hospice.
Funeral will be from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Thursday morning at 10:00. All are welcome to attend. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush. In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to Community Hospice of Rensselaer County 295 Valley View Blvd. Rensselaer, NY 12144.
