Gary L. Petrone
Gary L. Petrone, 68, of East Greenbush, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving and devoted wife, three children and family at St. Peters Hospice on Friday May 8th, 2015 after a long illness.
Gary was born in Albany and is the son of Alexander Petrone of Rensselaser, NY and is preceded in death by his mother Vivian Scott Petrone and his loving niece Amy Petrone Donohue.
Gary was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was an accomplished fisherman who had the skill and knowledge to find the best fishing spots and catch the biggest fish. He was a legend in Lake George always having the ability to find the lakers. He had many talents and gifts which he shared lovingly with his children and grandchildren. Always there to answer any question. He was an accomplished sportsman. He had many artistic talents and always had the ability to fix anything. Gary truly loved and appreciated people. He loved to chat. Over the years he met many friends and always kept them. He was well loved, appreciated and respected. He had three children of his own but many other children who never stopped coming to seek his advice and feel his love.
Gary was a Veteran of the United States Army proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. He received an Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service during the period of August 1967- July 1968. After serving our Country, Gary was a lineman for Niagara Mohawk for 35 years. During that time he met and kept devoted co-workers and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife Stephanie A. Petrone; son Christopher L. Petrone (Karen); daughters Melanie L. Teliska (Mark) and Sarah A. Martino (David); sister Judith Larkin (Robert); two brothers Ralph Petrone (Patricia) and Wesley Petrone (Patricia); five grandchildren John Francis and Olivia Teliska, Jake, Chase and Ryan Martino; two step grandchildren Aaron and Jordan Bammert; several nieces and nephews; devoted childhood friend and caregiver, Herbert Carl Jr.
Funeral from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, NY Tuesday, May 12th at 8:30am and 9:30am at the Church of Saint Mary at Clinton Heights where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered and Father David LeFort will officiate the ceremony. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Monday, May 11th from 4-8 PM. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands, NY.
