Obituary for Joseph S. Alber

Averill Park-Joseph S. “Big Brother” Alber age 59 years, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital. He was born in Albany and has been a resident of East Greenbush and Averill Park all his life. Joe worked for many years with his father and brothers at Joe Alber’s Used Cars in Averill Park. He also drove a dump truck for the Keller Co. Joe loved riding his motorcycle with his brothers and friends, was a big Grateful Dead fan and enjoyed playing his guitar. He was a great brother to all his siblings and would help out anyone in an instant. Joe was big on the computer, playing games and his Facebook page, loved John Wayne movies and enjoyed cooking for his mom and dad. Joe will always be remembered for playing practical jokes on his family and friends.

Beloved son of Joseph and Teresa Davis Alber; loving father of Veronica T. Alber; stepfather of Amanda Czuwala; cherished brother of Penny, Susan, Michael, Jackie, Danny and Tricia. Joe is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Joe’s Facebook friends and all his friends for all the love and support they gave to him.

Funeral will be from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Wednesday prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, East Schodack.
