Obituary for Marcia Anne Buell (Ludlum)

Marcia Anne Buell (Ludlum)
Rensselaer – Marcia Anne Buell, 74, passed away December 30th, 2015. Marcia was born March 1st, 1941, daughter of the late Harold Ludlum and Mary Patterson Ludlum. She was predeceased by her brother, Bruce Ludlum. She graduated from Rensselaer High School in 1958 as salutatorian of her class. On April 25th, 1959, she married the love of her life, Charles “Chuck” Buell. They enjoyed 56 happy years together and raised five children; Steven, John (Lisa), Lynda (Herbert), Robert (Mary), and Christopher. Marcia loved and cherished all her children and grandchildren; Rebecca, Robert, Ian, Laura, Lindsay, Corey, and Gemma. She also had great love for her many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Marcia enjoyed nature and would take walks near “the hollow” of Rensselaer, looking for small wildflowers to identify. She also had a love for classical music and played piano her whole life. Her cats were her babies and she was known to take in strays that were fortunate enough to come to her door. Marcia was a quiet and polite woman among acquaintances, but her close friends and family knew her for her love, kindness, and fantastic sense of humor. Many were surprised to find that she enjoyed science fiction films. She also enjoyed reading on any subject and solving difficult crossword puzzles. But by far, her greatest joy in life came from spending time with, and helping to raise her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Mema.”
While raising a family, Marcia and her husband established Buell's Floor Covering in 1969, which she was co-owner of.
Marcia was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and was a member of the Rensselaer Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, along with her husband Charles, since 1971. She enjoyed studying the Bible and found comfort and hope in the truths she learned from it.
Calling hours will be held at W J Lyons Funeral Home at 1700 Washington Ave, Rensselaer on Tuesday, January 5th, 2016 from 2pm to 6pm. A memorial service will be held at the Schodack Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1169 Route 9, Castleton On Hudson on Saturday, January 9th at 5pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Marcia's honor to the Whiskers Animal Benevolent League (ewhiskers.com) or the American Brain Tumor Association (abta.org
