Georgette M.  Tompkins

Georgette Tompkins, 89 years, residing at Riverside Nursing Home in Castleton, passed on after a brief illness to be with our Savior and Lord, and to join her beloved husband, Donald, of 64 years who passed in 2010. She was born in Fort Kent, Maine and was the daughter of George and Edna Caron. She moved to Houlton, Maine as a child where she lived many years before moving to New York. She worked for many years at Dura Color Photo from which she retired. She had a green thumb and always planted beautiful flowers. She loved eating at the China Buffet and made it a weekly trip, inviting the family to join her. She had a great love for all of her grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Mother of Dawn (Jimmy) LaMountain and Sandi (the late Thomas) Sanchez. Grandmother of Jim (Beth) LaMountain, Tommy (Noelle) Sanchez and David (Kristen) Sanchez. Great grandmother of Heather (Jason) Wood, Jay (Chris) LaMountain, Nicole (Clark) Lauer, Gabi Sanchez, Hunter Sanchez, Dylan Sanchez and Karsyn Sanchez. Great-great grandmother of Clark Lauer, Jr., Zoe Rae Lauer, Hannah Wood and Skylar LaMountain. Also survived by her sister Natalie Botting of Columbia S.C. and many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer, Friday morning at 10:30. All are welcome to attend. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Thursday from 5-8 PM. Interment will be in New Rural Cemetery, East Greenbush. The family would like to express their gratitude to all of the caring nurses and staff at Memorial Hospital. They made her and her family comfortable in her final days.
