Obituary for Kathryn J. Ravida

Albany: Kathryn “Kay” Hart Ravida joined her loved ones in heaven on December 14, 2016. At the time of her death she was a resident of the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home. A lifelong Albany resident, Kathryn worked at State Bank of Albany for over 33 Yrs. And successfully created a loving home life for her family. She was a great woman, mother, wife and friend. Her courage and fierce determination to have it HER way, was with her to the last. She will be solely missed. Daughter of the late Frederick Hart and Anna Mae Marsh Hart, Kathryn was predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, Anthony in 2009. She is survived by her loving daughter: Kathy Ravida of Albany N.Y. Grandchildren: Karen Lambrese of Rhode Island, Vincent Foley (Kassy) and Kristen Foley of Voorheesville, NY, and great- grandchildren: Courtney and Kelly Lambrese, Patrick, Sean and Quinn Foley, and Colin VonFricken.
Kay was a natural at making friends, which was very evident as she made many friends at Daughters of Sarah. She was equally skilled at crafting and much of Kay’s best times were spent during the activity portion of the day; playing Bingo, or when she was “helping” the staff.
Kay is also survived by her devoted sister Dorothy Mehleisen; and her cousin Beatrice Walsh, as well as many treasured nieces, nephews and friends. Kay was predeceased by her daughter Ann Foley, Her son Robert (Bob) Ravida and her son-in-law Albany Police Cmdr. Vincent DePaul Foley. The family wishes to thank the staff at Daughters of Sarah and especially the staff of the Gold unit for their admirable care of Kay during her time at the residence. There is no way our family could adequately convey how appreciative we are to all those whose dedication and care enriched Kay’s life during her time at Daughters. The family is also very grateful to Penny, Pat, Bill and John, Pat and Nancy; as well as Harry and Alexis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10:00 at the Chapel at the Convent of Mercy, 634 New Scotland Ave, Albany. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Ave Rensselaer, NY on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be at Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Gold Recreational Unit at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center, 180 Washington Ave Ext., Albany, NY 12203-5398; the Northeast Association of the Blind (NABA), 301 Washington Ave., Albany, NY 12206 or a charity of your choice.
