Obituary for Timothy E. Pratt

Rensselaer-Timothy E. Pratt age, 65 years, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017 peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, after a 5-month battle with colon cancer. Tim is the son of the Carolyn and Walter Stark and the late Edwin Pratt. Tim grew up in South Troy before moving to Albany and finally settling in Rensselaer, where he lived for the last 30 years. Tim was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved music especially the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison. Timothy was a member of AA and had 27 years of sobriety; something he was incredibly proud of.
He married his wife Iola Whitney Pratt on May 25, 1980. They renewed their vows on May 23, 2015 in front of family and friends. Besides Iola Timothy is survived by his children Timothy (Angela) Pratt of Troy, Shannon (Noureddine) Bensalah of Rensselaer, Sean (Virginia) Pratt of Superior Montana, along with Christina Mitchell, Julie Woods and Mark Pratt of Ohio. Timothy is also survived by his grandchildren Edward Johnson, Olivia Pratt, Madalyn Pratt of Troy, along with his “adopted” Joshua Bensalah of Feura Bush and numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Michael Pratt of Benton, PA and sister Barbara Pratt of Cohoes, NY along with siblings Bill Pratt, Lori Vermilyea and Lisa Mieczkowski. Timothy is also survived by many brother and sister in laws along with countless nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Timothy is predeceased in death by his grandson Cameron Bensalah. Tim’s family would like to thank Community Hospice of Rensselaer County for all their help, guidance, compassion and support during Tim’s last days. We would also like to thank Dr. Garbo of NYOH for his compassion and guidance these last 5 months. At Tim’s request, there will be no services; however, family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life for Tim on Sunday, March 26, 2017 from 1-3 pm at the Gerald O’Neil American Post 836 Broadway Rensselaer, NY 12144. All are welcome to attend.
