Sandra E. "Sandy" Dowling (Stevens)
DOWLING, Sandra E., “Sandy”(Stevens), age 49, of Castleton-on-Hudson, NY passed away peacefully with her husband at her side, Friday July 27, 2018. She was born in Washington DC, December 24, 1968. She grew up in her beloved city of Pittsburgh PA. Sandy attended Johnson and Wales University, Providence, RI, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in 1990. Together with her husband she lived in Franklin MA, Rocky Hill CT, Pine Bush NY and Syracuse NY.
Sandy is survived by her husband of 18 years, Emmett J. Dowling, Castleton, NY; son Liam Michael and daughter Lilah Colette; her father Douglas (Tina) Stevens, Orlando FL; her stepfather Huck O’Neill, sister Chrissy (Bob) Stevens Moncavage and sister Casey O’Neill, Pittsburgh, PA; her parents-in-law Michael and Mary Frances Dowling, Castleton, NY; brother-in-law Brian Dowling, Plattsburgh NY; sister-in-law Deirdre (John) Dowling Docherty, Castleton, NY; her nieces and nephew Delainey Dowling, Brighid Docherty, Nolan Docherty and Lindsay Bickar. She is predeceased by her mother Patricia O’Neill.
Over Sandy’s career path she held various positions from Director of Sales and General Manager of Hotel Operations. Locally Sandy worked for The Century House, Birch Hill and Marriott. Recently Sandy joined the Faculty Student Association for Hudson Valley Community College where she held the role of Manager of the Viking’s Cove Bookstore. Sandy loved her newly found career helping young adults strive to better themselves and our community. Sandy was an active Girl Scout Leader, CYO Basketball volunteer and member of the Chamber of Commerce receiving various accolades.
Sandy had a vibrant and humors personality. She was a kind, caring and fun mother to Liam and Lilah. Sandy was the most soulful and loving partner I could have ever hoped to marry.
Sandy touched many and will be missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Sandy's family on Wednesday August 1st from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lyons Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave, Rensselaer, NY 12144. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 3 Catholic Way, Castleton-On-Hudson, NY 12033.
